Upcoming ballot measure supporting Tamapais Union High
Measure B
Measure B will:
-
Prevent cuts equivalent to 114 teachers
-
Keep every penny from Measure B in our district to support our high schools. An independent citizen oversight committee will be required and senior citizens over age 65 will continue to be eligible for an exemption.
-
Renew the current annual $455 parcel tax and increase it by $190 per parcel, with annual cost of living adjustments.
Stable Local Funding
Tam District has two local parcel tax measures that support high-quality teachers and strong science, technology, engineering, math, reading and writing instruction. Today, these measures cost $443 annually per parcel, with a 3% annual cost of living adjustment, provide $16.1 million in annual funding and account for 17% of the District’s budget. All funds from these measures stay in our schools and no funds support administrator salaries.
Strong Fiscal Management
Tam District has made $5.8 million in cuts while protecting the quality of education provided to local high school students. The District sought input from the community through community meetings, one-on-one interviews and multiple task forces. Most recently the District formed a citizen Fiscal Advisory Committee that reviewed the District’s budget and provided recommendations to the Superintendent about next steps.
Expiring Local Funding & Potential Parcel Tax Measure
Tam District’s local funding measures are set to expire in 2022. Today, these measures provide funding equivalent to 114 teachers and support strong academic programs. Both of these measures are set to expire in 2022. Although no final decisions have been made, the District is considering placing a local parcel tax measure on the ballot to continue local funding to retain quality teachers, maintain strong academic programs, protect art and music and maintain counseling.
