KSPTA is excited to host the Marin County Sheriff’s Office Vigilant Parent Program on March 26, in the Kent Library.
The Vigilant Parent Initiative is geared towards educating the community on social media and technology how-tos, prevention, awareness, and knowing how to talk to their child about protecting themselves online. Teaching kids how to password protect and maintain privacy online are part of parenting nowadays. Additionally, the Vigilant Parent initiative provides online safety training and identifies the signs to watch out for when a child may potentially be in danger on-line. The Sheriff’s office will train parents on popular apps like TikTok and Snapchat via hands-on, interactive learning and also provide the vocabulary that may be referenced by your child.
Parents are encouraged to start conversations with their children early and to keep up with the latest social media trends. The Sheriff’s office will provide 40 iPads for use during the session. Attendees are also free to bring their own devices
